Learn to paint with oil paints the NONTOXIC way!
What does this mean? Painting with oil paints and oil painting products the nontoxic way means to paint using products that carry the ”AP”(nontoxic) Seal by the Art and Creative Materials Institute. This indicates the products do not harm the human body while being used. It also means young people can now safely learn to use oil paints and oil painting products to become oil painters at an earlier age without fear of risking long-term damage to their body.
Traditional student and professional grades of oil painting products contain a laundry list of materials which can do harm to the body if not handled as prescribed by the product manufacturer. These hazard can come in the form of toxicity or of containing carcinogenic elements. For example, Cadmium, the element, is toxic to the human body if allowed into the lungs from breathing particles and is considered a carcinogen. Any color containing cobalt is likewise considered a carcinogen. Colors such as “Flake White” or “Zinc White” or to a lesser degree “Titanium White” can contain varying amounts of lead. Thinner and turpentine are harmful if allowed into the body through the skin pores or by breathing the fumes or vapors into the lungs.
Learning to paint is a fun and exciting experience! It shouldn’t have to occur with an endless series of health warnings when students are concentrating on learning painting techniques. Heinrichs Art Studio is dedicated to providing instruction to beginners and experienced artists using products which are safe and to educate those wanting to progress into the world of professional painting on the safe use of the professional grade products.
